These beetles are moderately sized at 4.5mm to 6.0mm. P. rotunda is a golden beetle that have deep grooved on its elytra. They can be found frequently in most months, but are much more prevalent in summer months in drier patches of kelp.  Like E. obscurus, these beetles consume mainly decaying organic matter, whether it be arthropods or not, as well as, possibly live fly larvae.
