H. bigemmeus is another clown beetle present of the sandy beach. They are slightly more robust than similar sized clown beetles on the beach, ranging around 2.0mm to 3.5mm in length, with a golden iridescence. H. bigemmeus also lacks distinct grooves on their elytra, distinguishing them. These beetles are the least common of the clown beetles, but are most likely to be found in kelp with similar desiccation that other histerids are found in. Nothing is confirmed about what these beetles consume.
