Weevil Beetle

Thalasselephas testaceus

Order:

Coleoptera

Family:

Curculionidae

Thalasselephas testaceus are much smaller than E. fucicola at around 2.5mm to 3.5mm in length. They are brown in color and have a large rostrum (mouthpiece) relative to E. fucicola. There is no pattern to their occurrence and they are usually only found as individuals or pairs. Their diet is likely similar to E. fucicolis, consisting of kelp and detritus, but little is confirmed.
