Program Overview
If you enjoy public speaking and spending time outdoors, volunteering as a tour guide could be a great opportunity for you! Coal Oil Point Reserve offers free public tours on the first Saturday of every month as well as tours for private groups and classes. The docent-led tour is a beautiful 2 hour walk through the entire reserve while discussing the natural and cultural history of the reserve.
Time Commitment
We request that tour guides commit to lead a minimum of 1 tour a month.
How to Get Involved
To become a tour guide, you must complete the following:
- Informal meeting with reserve staff
- Review and learn information provided to you in the Tour Guide Manual and reserve documentary film
- Attend a tour as a participant
- Co-lead a tour with a current tour guide
If you would like to find out more about the Tour Program, or would like to volunteer your time and become a tour guide, we would like to hear from you. The more tour leaders we have, the more visitors get to experience and learn. Each of our guides have their own interests and expertise to add, making each tour a unique experience!
